Mideast peace talks? Call it Pompous parade of hypocrites!

After initial kinks and hiccups, the Annapolis peace talks concluded while we in Palestine were never optimistic about US backed move that once again highlighted US-Israeli hypocrisy for the reasons being many. Here comes Bush’s another Mideast tour that began with its coteries and couldn’t add anything to sooth the prevailing scenario of distrust against both, US and Israel.

Mideast is the constant battleground for west’s dirty politics. Here nothing changes. These scores of odysseys by US diplomats change no stance on Iran or Hamas. They are threat to the world peace. Peace, yeah this is the most abominable weapon that West uses to justify its actions and policies in the Mideast. Well, Hamas and Iran is a threat to the world peace and we here are in ambiguity as to whose peace they are speaking about?

US pretending as a mediator as it always did and perhaps will always do, but the ideological differences or rather call it the duplicity that the so-called ‘Great America’ hides under diplomatic carpet, won’t lead to any successful solution of the crises. US always boasts of himself with words like ‘Liberator’ and propagating democracy while at the same time playing the blame game and ultimately coming out as the champion of death and destruction.

With the latest Mideast trip, Bush is hopeful that peace will come there within one year. Palestine will have boundaries on the ground and we hardly doubt but know that it’s impossible. Because any accord will require mutually agreed adjustments from all sides and that isn’t possible until US sheds its biased approach. Lofty rhetoric and deceptive smiles are no more meaningful, for they are not difficult for any one of us to understand. And of course, how any solution is complete when Hamas’ absence left yawning gap in the conference. How good the idea is, I wonder, to indulge representatives from all over the world while leaving democratically elected Hamas, the Palestinian representative.

Additionally, how long will the world keep toeing US myths? The shaky handshakes between Olmert and Abbas, both egged on by US, are merely the representatives of Israel or Palestine. Why Hamas, Hezbollah, and above all Iran - that has lion’s share in Mideast peace - has not been invited to the peace talks? Peace in the Mideast will be a far cry as long as issues with Hamas will not be sorted out. So, no Hamas no peace and that’s what US or perhaps Israel want.

For the manipulator of the highest order - US President, who is in a hurry to add something worthwhile in his futile carrier once again shied in Middle East in yet another accidental move by making more foes than friends. The scars are simply incurable and the next generation in the Islamic world is more than watching. What happened to the Jews in Germany was wrong, but does it give them right to do the same to the Palestinians? I hope with utmost trust in my neighbor - Israel and its western cronies that there is a need to understand that suicide bombers don’t blow themselves up without a very good reason.

Moreover, “The state of Israel is finished if a Palestinian state is not created”, this is what Israeli PM was quoted as saying and perhaps very true. Now, if Olmart feels so, which I am sure many Israelis won’t, then how much confiscation will it swap for peace? Or will Israel do so above all? Not to the surprise this time even, neither the answer nor the honesty of thought or US-Israeli hypocrisy are unpredictable. This is how Israel has shown its intentions every now and then, still, you need proof what these peace talks will result in, do you? With all this going on, we Gazans call these peace talks nothing more than the pompous parade of hypocrites.

Finally, as I said in my initial lines that there are many reasons for these talks to end in nothing substantial. Here comes the cardinal one: as long as Israel will continue believing that big Israel without peace is better than small Israel with peace, Annapolis peace talks or any strenuous effort for peace whatsoever is doomed to failure.

Don't be crazy people! US will never ever be serious for the peace in the Mideast. This is nothing merely tickling around in order to protect and increase the arms market which conflict in the Mideast serves pretty well for US interests. Abbas has surely gone mad, I beg your pardon but he is nothing more than puppet who knowingly or unknowingly stated catering US- Israeli interests when he joined US and his allies to discard Hamas. the threat to loose power to Hamas overpowered him to outdo Palestinian interests and thus the fool went astray while making US interests more firm. US and Israel couldn't ask anything more than that when Hamas and Fatah, who were ideologically different now were geographically distant as well. If US is really serious for the peace in the Mideast, then just stop finacial and arms support to Israel and rest will follow.

George W Bush’s trip to Middle East was nothing but a derogatory step to interfere in mutual relations among countries in the region. He came, tried to compensate his failed policies in this region and gone that’s all. He couldn’t succeed in making our country isolated because the regional states are much interested in strengthening mutual understanding with Iran.

Forget the peace talks. Is any body across the world interested in knowing how we spent our time on Sunday and Monday when Bush was here in Abu Dhabi? It was a terrifying.

The biggest problem is created by West Bank settlers rather than Palestinians. If you want to talk about peace here, Israel will have to return to it's 1967 borders and dismantle all its West Bank settlements, which will never happen. And this is not possible because the settlers control the army and do not have the backup of Israeli government.
